Picon Gallery is the curatorial selection from volumes of years of work from Ricardo Picón reflecting a variety of scenarios in art photography including landscape, architecture, urban, abstract, pop and portraiture.
The aesthetics are driven by Photographs that can uplift and inspire, stir, motivate and expose hidden realities resonating with others in their homes and work environments. I strongly believe in the functionality of photography as decorative art.
My core belief is that all arts including photography can shape a better a world, new photographers do not need to pass through the filters and hoops of the conventional art industry and that value is created when an opportunity for exposure is given and a visionary decision is taken.
Picon Gallery allows me to show "one world in many views" in the most beautiful formats available.
ABOUT ME
Youngest of three I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, studied Law as well as Music Production, graduated very young and moved to NYC many moons ago pursuing a career in Djing and dance music. After many sleepless parties and clubs I realized by serendipity that I had an urge for photography and that it was a much sought after connection with appreciation, design, mobility and contemplation . I picked up a camera and started shooting antiques, mid century furniture, jewelry and fashion accessories, after different publications and designers (Vogue, NY Post, Trace Magazine, Complex) started noticing my work and commissioned me projects I built the confidence to go back to school and formalize my relationship with photography, attended a Photography MPS program at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) and started a career in still life, catalogs, portraits, real estate, food, architectural and travel photography working with companies such as Warby Parker, Bloomingdales, Soul Cycle, Sephora, Corcoran, Citi Habitats, Douglas Elliman, W Mag, NY Post, Vogue, Trace Magazine, Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, The Sandwich Shop and Chanel.
After many years of developing my language as an artist and building an extensive private portfolio now I share with you “Picon Gallery”.
I currently live in Brooklyn, NY with an incredible Chef and wife Clarisa Penzini and a spoiled fat Cat named Camilo ;)
